Zeta Amicae

The Zeta Amicae of Lake Charles serves as an important partner in advancing the mission of Beta Kappa Zeta Chapter. Comprised of dedicated women committed to service, leadership, and community engagement, Zeta Amicae members actively support chapter initiatives while building meaningful connections through fellowship and volunteerism. Their contributions help strengthen our programs and extend our impact throughout the community.

History

As early as 1940, graduate chapters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated began to recognize the importance of the prestige, goodwill, and cooperation of women who were not eligible to become members of a Greek-letter organization.

In 1948, a group of women organized to assist members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated in whatever capacity they were needed. They chose the Latin name Amicae, meaning "Friends," for their auxiliary. The first chartered group was granted to Lambda Zeta Chapter of Houston, Texas.

The first undergraduate chapter to present an auxiliary was Kappa Alpha of Miner Teachers College in Washington, D.C., on February 23, 1949, during Kappa Alpha's Finer Womanhood Program.

Today, Zeta Amicae auxiliaries have rendered invaluable service to the Sorority and their communities. They continue to thrive in areas wherever there are active graduate chapters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.

President’s Message:

Welcome to Zeta Amicae of Lake Charles. The Amicae Auxiliary provides an opportunity for professional women to be affiliated with Zeta and assist the sorority with providing positive, proactive and far reaching community service both nationally and internationally. Today, Amicae Auxiliaries are in eight regions of Zeta Phi Beta and have continued to render invaluable community service and thousands of dollars helping zeta extend their outreach to the communities where they live and serve.
